Mushrooms and Fire, Labor Day, 9.2.13

It's become a habit. When it's not flyable, got to the forest and rummage in the underbrush, see what we can find.

A funny one.

And, at various places, out of the green and into a burn zone from last year's fire. Met a morel hunter here. Morels in August...crazy.

And, then back into the living forest--complete with some hungry polypores overtaking whatever got in the way.

First day: Silver Falls and Grove of the Patriarchs. Enjoying the view at Silver Falls.

Found a perfect lunch spot up a bit from the main falls.

One of the kids spotted tiny frogs around a puddle in the rock.

Really tiny.

Naches Loop Trail is a pretty one.

Hiking and Other Fun, 8.20.13

We started out at the Black Mtn FlyIn and then a Skagit food tour. Beer and pub food stop at the Edison Inn. All smiles.

Some previous hiker had knocked down this big fungus. We were amazed at how light weight and purple it was.

I know we weren't unique in posing in this hollow tree, but it was too fun to resist.

Pemberton 8.1.13

The first two days of the trip offered up beautiful views from launch and nice flights.

One for the Canadian tourist board.

Afternoon storms put damper on the flying during the last part of the trip.

The poor flying weather gave us time for some fun backroads explorations.

Dramatic aftermath of the 2010 Meager Creek landslide.

Amazingly, a small campground on the river's edge was missed by the slide. Just before turning back out onto the road, berries caught my eye.

They grow big in BC!
